His legacy
Gone But Not Forgotten
Christian was born 8 weeks early he was due  13 Dec 04 but he was born 18 Oct 04.  He passed away almost 3 days later on 21 Oct 04. When he was born he had 2 heart problems (polyvalvular heart defect & Congenital heart disease) he had hydrops, and old and new blood in all 4 chambers of his brain  we didn't know about any of the things wrong with him till after he was born even will all the ultrasounds.  I was having contractions for 3 weeks before they decided to put me in the hospital because i had started dialating. They sent me to a bigger hospital in Nashville,TN were if he was born early they had the best NICU for him to go to. I got there on 15 Oct 04 not knowing anything was wrong with him. They kept me in L&D monitoring us both and trying to stop the contractions and giving me steroid shots to strengthen his lungs. When my steroids were done they sent me to a regular room cause my contractions had slowed down. They came in to monitor me every couple hours.  Well on 17 Oct 04 they came in to monitor me and realized my sons heart rate was up so they kept watching it. Then i told them i was having problems breathing so they decided to move me back to L&D just to watch me they said i probley wouldn't be in there very long,  well I was in there maybe 10 min and the doctor came and told me I had fluid on my lungs thats why i couldn't breathe very well and i also had an infection in my amniotic fluid so they thought it was best for me to deliver and right after being told that my water broke they gave me patosin to make my contractions stronger and more regular.   I was excited in a way cause my baby was coming I just thought he would be small I never expected what came next...Well once it came time to push I pushed him right out i wanted him out it hurt like crazy.  I seen him slightly and I thought he was perfect well I guess I passed out and My hubby said they came and found him about 20 minutes after Christian was born and told him there was something wrong that Christian had a serious heart problem all the valves in his heart were deformed and that was just one of his problems.  My husband went to go see him they had him intibated he was very swollen because of his heart problem his body couldn't pump the fluid threw his body all the way so it sat around his organs they call it "hydrops" well when i finally woke up they came and talked to me and told me what was wrong with him and i just broke down crying I went to see him shortly after that I never expected to see all them tubes and wires and medicines they were giving him to keep him comfortable. They wanted to move him to the children's hospital in the other part of the hospital but he crashed when they were tryin to get him ready to transport him over there, then they got him stable again and decided to leave him there for the night and see if his stats would stay stable  his heart rate was always high though that was the normal for him between 200-220 bpm. Well they finally moved him to the childrens hospital and got him set up and we were there all the time, I barely slept and my husband mostly slept thats how we dealt with it all.  Well on 20 Oct 04 they gave him an ultrasound of the brain and realized he had old and new blood in all 4 chambers of his brain and even if he lived with the heart problem he would never be normal, they are not sure if the brain bleed was from him being premature or what so the doctors called us over to where he was and told us what they had found and told us what they thought was best and we decided to turn the machines off that night after all our family we wanted there had arrived the machines were turned off at 1:00 am and he took his last  breathe at 2:05 am and became an angel and flew to heaven.
